I am an educator, writer, craftswoman, and avid reader.

Though I read many genres, my love of science fiction and fantasy ultimately inspired the creation of the trilogy about the mystical race of defenders known as Shala. My favorite science fiction and fantasy authors are Anne McCaffrey, Robert Jordan, Orson Scott Card, Joe Haldeman and Jennifer Roberson. They have spun stories that shifted my imagination into high gear.

I also publish a newsletter discussing the implications of brain research (www.cbbrainwaves.com) on teaching and learning, and am working on a 'how to' book on teaching methods. The second book in the Shala trilogy is completely outlined and I'll be starting the actual writing in the near future.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I moved to Lexington, Kentucky, in 2003. I am an avid supporter of the Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball team, and love to spend time at my cabin near Lake Cumberland. Fishing from my pontoon boat and playing with Liz, Lily, Kendall and David are just some of my pasttimes. Turning wooden pens on my lathe, creating natural scenes on a scroll saw, and collecting and polishing rocks, occupy my time as well. I also enjoy the company of the Games Gang! Am getting better at bridge with Fred and Gene, and have the best neighbors in the world!
